Janice D. Soderling

Vita brevis

A flustering of motion in the greenery,

the eloquence of August,
a rising of the heart, unseemly,
as we walk (two elegant contraptions
of muscle, skin and bone) toward evening
and the practiced codes of bed.
Sweet little death.
