JUST ANOTHER JOE

He was born José Nuñez
in the 20's in Cuba
but in Manhattan in the 50's
he was Joe Noon
with a thin mustache
and dark tie to match
dancing Mambo
at the Palladium.

"Yo me llamo José"
he would say
with a charming smile
but no matter
how he tried
could never lose
the accent.
