buttercups rannunculae
pasque flower anemone
hepatica retrimmed in crimson
idle bells
exultant garland
our slippers pledge & tiptoe
around sprigs of unpuzzled mosses

the birdling's blithe buttonhole
our hems tarnished
at meadow's traverse
chafed by august sun
bewildered
summer's album closes
